Sometimes
our life is sweet and delightful. Sometimes it's not. The question isn't
whether we get the Cherry Coke we wanted, but what we do with the Cherry
Coke, the lukewarm milk, the simple glass of water, or the bubbling
glass of champagne.
I
suspect that it is not so much the events of our lives that frustrates
us; but our expectations for those events. I usually get thrown off
when the form and timing of the next experience is not what I expected
it to be. For me the key to joyfully living in the present is to not
demand that the outcome be what I had already decided it should be.
The
wisdom of living without expectations has been given to us many times:
Go with the flow
Be here now
Thy will, not mine be done.
Simple,
huh? Simple perhaps, but seldom easy for this willful human being.
